As we pen this inaugural piece, the world is increasingly at war and dangerous new global orders are rising.
NATO is being tested by Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Chinese President Xi Jinping is positioning Beijing to be the victors of the spoils.
Ukraine is ground zero of this global war. But now, slowly and by Kremlin design, it is expanding. Russian drones and jet fighters are violating the air space of our Eastern European NATO allies.
Many have been slow to understand that what is unfolding before us is a global war. Not Hollywood’s version, as we often emphasize, but a third world war fought across multi-domains (land, air, sea, cyber and space) and regions around the globe.
It is war by a thousand cuts, and if left unchecked, could threaten not only Europe, but the United States as well.
Many of those cuts are asymmetric. They are part of Putin’s hybrid war against Europe. Sabotage, assassinations, offensive cyber activities (to include denial of service attacks - DoS) targeting telecommunications, transportation systems, energy and banking, the cutting of undersea cables, human trafficking, election interference, GPS jamming and the attempted bombings of DHL jet freighters in Poland and the United Kingdom are a few examples.
Yet the battlefields of this war extend well beyond Europe. They are to be found in the Middle East, across the Sahel in Africa, Taiwan, Venezuela and even at the end of the earth in Argentina where Beijing seeks a dual-use port to control the Strait of Magellan.
Our goal in creating this Substack is to provide our readers a holistic perspective of what is taking place. To apply critical thinking and analysis to understand how all the dots are connected across a multitude of complex layers.
Our posts will get to the point as it pertains to national security issues and foreign policy development – from a warfighter perspective. We will use the following Tag Lines:

We will provide an informed opinion based upon our shared experiences, and will be transparent in the process as to our research and analysis – documenting all of our sources.

As always, we will be non-partisan in our national security and foreign policy takes. Everyone is welcome here. Left, right, independent.
Our nation’s national security is our only guiding star. We will leave the politics of it all to others to cover. Instead, our aim is simply to be – to the best of our ability – honest brokers of national security and foreign policy issues confronting our country.
